About William Rex Jones

Capturing the Spirit of the West

William Rex Jones is a distinguished Canadian artist whose work serves as a vibrant homage to the rugged beauty of the Alberta foothills and the vast Canadian landscape.

A proud member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, William’s work is recognized for its technical precision and its ability to capture fleeting, tranquil moments in nature.

The Artist’s Perspective

Much of William's inspiration is drawn from his personal experiences and the landscapes he has called home. His time living in Waiparous, Alberta, provided him with a front-row seat to the region's diverse wildlife and dramatic vistas, from majestic mule deer posing outside his door to the distinctive silhouette of Devils Head on the horizon.

Whether depicting the rushing waters of the Elbow River or a quiet beach in Pukaskwa National Park, his work is deeply rooted in a sense of place.

Mastery of Medium

William’s process is defined by a meticulous approach to archival quality. Each original painting is executed in acrylic on masonite, a surface he prepares himself with multiple coats of gesso.

This foundation provides a professional finish and ensures the longevity of the artwork, allowing the rich colors and textures of his landscapes to remain vibrant for generations.

Professional Presence

In addition to his online presence here, William is an active member of the local arts community. His work is frequently showcased and available for purchase at the Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta, a hub for high-quality regional fine art.

His commitment to the craft is further reflected in his limited edition prints, which are produced on archival paper by Quebecor Printing to maintain the integrity of his original imaginative compositions.
